“ The School Building --- Besides the old, beautiful and spacious building with 35 rooms and a prayer hall, the school has 6 more buildings of its own which accommodate the Secondary Section, the Primary Section and the Industrial Section.

“Both the Primary and Secondary Sections begin work everyday with the chanting of Vedic Mantra and other Sanskrit hymns and prayers. A small book containing these hymns and prayers is issued by the school for the use of the students. >>>

Our Activities

Our students and staff were busily engaged in various extra-curricular and co-curricular activities

Free Coaching Classes ---

Were started in 1988 for the poor children of the neighbourhood. Classes are held in the Christine Bhavan from 7 to 9 in the morning on four days a week.

Computer Education ---

The school has various computers including a multi-media. The students of the Secondary Section from Class V to X are given ample opportunity to learn the use of computers.

Celebrations ---

Birthdays of Sri Buddha, Sri Shankaracharya, Sri Krishna, Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, and Sister Nivedita as well as those of Netaji and Rabindranath are observed.

Saraswati Puja ---

The Saraswati Puja is being celebrated with the usual solemnity and enthusiasm. Christmas Eve and Ratha Yatra are celebrated ever year.

Management

The school which was a branch centre of the Ramakrishna Mission since 1918, was transferred on 9 August, 1963, to the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, Dakshineswar and henceforward has been known as the branch centre of that organization. The management of the school is entrusted to a Managing Committee appointed by the Governing Body of the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission. >>>

About Us

Early in 1898, Sister Nivedita (Miss Margaret E. Noble) came to India to help Swami Vivekananda to carry out his plans. On 13 November, 1898, the auspicious day of Kali Puja, the school was opened by the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, in the presence of Swami Vivekananda and some of his brother disciples. It was then tentatively started and finally in 1902 turned into a regular school.
